This specimen was lot 24094 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $528.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria Penny 1848/7, Young Head, MS64 BN NGC, sharply struck and having luscious reddish brown surfaces, glossy luster, almost entirely mark free. Super-clear 8/7 overdate -- neither noticed nor noted on the grading insert by the experts at NGC." This penny was struck 1841-60 and is common. It shares the same design with the farthing and half penny. The catalog mentions the 1848/6 and 1848/7 overdates but the 1848/7 is not awarded a premium.
