This specimen was lot 31599 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain: William & Mary gold Guinea 1691 VF/XF. A possible ex-jewelry piece, some scuffs and cleaning to the surface; despite this, however, the coin remains praiseworthy and attractive, underlying luster and the beginnings of a light russet tone forming at the peripheries. William and Mary's dual portraits exhibit only light wear, remaining bold with deep detail commensurate with a strong strike. A scarce Guinea with strong eye appeal. From the Collection of a Berkshire Gentleman." This type was struck with (Fr-305) and without (shown here) the elephant and castle symbol below the busts.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 8.35 g, 0.917 fine gold.

Catalog reference: KM 474.1, S-3426, Fr-303.
