This specimen was lot 37033 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, ND (1646-48). London Mint; mm: Sceptre. Charles I. PCGS VF-35. Group H. From the Richard August Collection." This shilling was issued by Parliament in the later stage of the second Civil War. The king was captured, tried and executed in January 1649. In 1650, the Commonwealth was established and the king's portrait removed from the coinage.
