Great Britain (1627-28) unite Fr-246
This specimen was lot 1374 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"GREAT BRITAIN | Königreich, Charles I. 1625-1649 Unite o. J. (1627-1628). Tower Mint Münzzeichen: Turm. Fast vorzüglich. Schöne Goldpatina. (kingdom of Great Britain, Charles I, 1625-49, undated unite, Tower mint. About extremely fine, Nice gold patina.)"
This gold unite (twenty shillings) was accompanied by a gold angel (Fr-245), double crown (Fr-247) and gold crown (Fr-248). Charles' conflicts with Parliament and his subsequent inability to raise funds cramped the production of gold.
