Steve Album Auction 53, lot 3004

This specimen was lot 3004 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY: Kaiserreich, AR mark, 1873-F, lightly cleaned, better date/mintmark, AU, ex Almer H. Orr III Collection." This type was struck 1873-87 in Germany at nine mints; this specimen is a product of the Stuttgart mint ("F"). In 1891, a modified eagle was introduced and this denomination was struck in that form until 1918 (see KM 14).

Recorded mintage: 109,177, a very scarce date.

Specification: 5.55 g, 0.900 fine silver, 24 mm diameter, .160 troy oz ASW.
