Sincona sale 90, lot 2543

This specimen was lot 2543 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, Quadruple 1642 SD, Genf. Sehr selten. Gutes sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Geneva, quadrupla of 1642, Geneva mint. Very rare, Good very fine.)"

It was offered again as lot 3241 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it did not sell. This type was struck 1635-38 and 1641-42. It was equal to four écus pistolet. Varieties exist in the number of sun rays; this example has sixteen.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 13.10 g, 0.900 fine gold, this specimen 12.87 g.
