Sincona sale 43, lot 4260

This specimen was lot 4260 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 6,200 CHF (about US$7,399 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Stadt und Kanton Genf, Ecu pistolet 1580. Sehr selten. Vorzüglich-FDC. Aussergewöhnlich attraktive Erhaltung. (city and canton of Geneva, écu pistolet of 1580. Very rare, Extremely fine-uncirculated, Most attractive condition.)"

Friedberg lists this obscure type for 1562-86 and notes that the last écu pistolet was struck in 1642.
