Gelderland 1699 silver ducat Dav-4891
This specimen was lot 1464 in Jean Elsen sale 120 (Brussels, March 2014) where it sold for €160 (about US$263 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NEDERLAND, GELDERLAND, Provincie, AR zilveren dukaat, 1699, Droit: Staande ridder n.r. met zwaard en gekroond provinciewapen. Mm. ridder te paard. Revers: Gekroond Generaliteitswapen. Zeer Fraai (Netherlands, province of Gelderland, silver ducat of 1699. Obverse: standing knight with sword and shield with the provincial arms; reverse: crowned arms of the United Provinces. Very fine.)"
The SCWC notes that this type was issued 1693-1700. A 1699/8 overdate exists.
