This specimen was lot 10723 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $558. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPANISH NETHERLANDS. Gelderland. Dalder, 1558. NGC XF-45. Philip II (1556-98). Toned. From the Demarete Collection." This type superseded the previous issue (Dav-8491) by running the date continuous with the legend; the next issue (Dav-8493) deleted "ANG Z REX" (king of England) from the king's titles after the death of his wife, Mary Tudor. The second specimen was lot 1155 in Jean Elsen sale 162 (Brussels, June 2025), where it sold for €220 (about US$305 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"NEDERLAND, HOLLAND, De Staten in opstand (1572-1581), AR Philipsdaalder van Gelderland, 1558, Nijmegen. Met klop Hollands wapenschild in parelrand. Vz/ Geharnast bb. l. Kz/ Gekroond wapenschild op een Bourgondisch kruis tussen twee vuurijzers. Klop: Zeer Fraai. (Netherlands, Holland, States Revolt, 1572-81, silver écu Philippe of Gelderland of 1558, Nijmegen mint, with Holland counterstamp. Obverse: armored bust left; reverse: crowned arms over a Burgundian cross between two firesteels. Fine, counterstamp very fine.)"
