This specimen was issued by Gambia in 1971-74. Formerly a British colony embedded in Senegal, a series of sterling coinage was issued for it in 1966. This was replaced by decimal coinage in 1971.

Recorded mintage: 19,060,000 + 26,062,000 of the F.A.O. type (KM 14).

Specification: 1.8 g, bronze, 17.15 mm diameter.
