Sincona sale 90, lot 1028

This specimen was lot 1028 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$430 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Fürstenberg, Fürstentum, Karl Joachim, 1796-1804. 20 Kreuzer 1804, Stuttgart. Fast vorzüglich. Kleiner Schrötlingsfehler. Unregelmässige Patina. (Germany, principality of Fürstenberg, Charles Joachim, 1796-1804, twenty kreuzer of 1804, Stuttgart mint. About extremely fine, Minor flan flaw, Irregularly toned.)"

The principality was mediatized by Napoleon in 1804 and handed over to Baden. Just before the abolition of the state, the prince issued a one, three, six, ten and twenty kreuzer and a thaler. A variety exists for this denomination with the obverse legend "PRINC·IN·FURSTENBERG". Twenty kreuzer was one sixth of a convention thaler.
