This specimen was lot 306 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 35 (Winter Park, FL, May 2024), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS (United), Friesland, 1/2 "lion" daalder, 1626, rare. Solid coin (uncorroded) with full legends and interior details, traces of luster within uneven toning, rated R2 in Delmonte. With generic certificate from the salvor. Recovered from: Campen, sunk in 1627 off the Isle of Wight, south of England." Half lion daalders were struck in most of the provinces that today make up the Netherlands. They had a face value of twenty stuivers. This type is recorded in the SCWC for Friesland for 1607-08, 1611-20, 1626-29, 1632-33, 1649, 1652, 1659, 1663 and undated.
