French Indochina 1930-A 20 cent
The first specimen was lot 33085 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $411.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "French Colony 20 Cents 1930-A MS67 PCGS, Paris mint. Showcasing a considerable amount of flash, this outstanding specimen features expertly-struck design elements, as well as silky fields that are essentially pristine. Absolutely captivating in this deluxe quality." This twenty cent piece is one of a type issued for French Indochina during 1921-30. French Indochina was occupied by the Japanese in 1940. French attempts to reoccupy the area after World War Two were challenged by Ho Chi Minh and the Viet Minh, leading to French defeat and withdrawal in 1954. The colony was divided into Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
