Frankfurt 1838 gulden

from the Stacks Bowers 2018 ANA sale, lot 22568

This specimen was lot 22568 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GERMANY. Frankfurt. Gulden, 1838. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. Minimally marked with light wispy handling around the denomination that accounts for the assigned grade." This type was struck 1838-41 and is somewhat scarce.

Recorded mintage: 120,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 10.58 g, 0.900 fine silver.
