This specimen was lot 22568 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Frankfurt. Gulden, 1838. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. Minimally marked with light wispy handling around the denomination that accounts for the assigned grade." This type was struck 1838-41 and is somewhat scarce.
Recorded mintage: 120,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 10.58 g, 0.900 fine silver.
