This specimen is a one year type struck at the Paris mint. It honors Roland Garros, a French flying ace of World War One. It was struck in 1988 along with the regular issue bimetallic ten francs. Silver and gold versions were sold to collectors. It was demonetized in 1991, probably because of extensive counterfeiting.

Recorded mintage: 29,973,011 plus 20,000 in silver and 3,000 in gold.

Specification: 10 g, copper-nickel, 26 mm diameter, plain edge.

Catalog reference: F.372/3, KM 965.
