France 1766-Pau louis d'or

This specimen is louis d'or du Béarn au bandeau struck at the Pau mint, one of a type struck there in 1740-71. This specimen was lot 1460 in CGB sale 31 (Paris, June 2007) and is counted as a better date, even tho its mintage is more than all the other mints put together for 1766.

Recorded mintage: 89,698[1].

Specification: 8.158 g, 0.917 fine gold, 24 mm diameter, reeded edge.
