This specimen was lot 22140 in Heritage sale 61352 (Dallas, December 2023), where it sold for $114. The catalog description[1] noted, "France: Louis XV Ecu 1753-(Cow) VF35 NGC, Pau mint." This specimen of the écu au bandeau is from the Pau mint. Pau, high up in the Pyrenees, was a backwoods town but in this period was becoming an important stop in the French-Spanish trade. Many Spanish and Spanish American coins disappeared into the mint's furnaces, to be reborn as French écus au bandeau, hence this mintmark is common.

Recorded mintage: 114,636, a slightly better date.

Specification: 29.49 g, 0.917 fine silver, 39-41 mm diameter, edge lettered DOMINE SALVUM FAC REGEM, designed by Norbert Roëttiers.

Catalog reference: Dr/4 № 820a, Dr/2 № 584a, KM 518, Duplessy 1680, Gad-322a, Dav-A1331.
