Stack's Bowers September 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 74751

The first specimen was lot 74751 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. 1/12 Ecu (5 Sols), 1721-B. Rouen Mint. Louis XV. PCGS VF-25. From the Richard August Collection." This coin had a face value of 15 sols and was made 1720-23. Nearly all were struck over Dr/4 № 852.

Recorded mintage: unknown, rf only, a scarce date[2].

Specification: 2.04 g, 0.917 fine silver, 20 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Norbert Roëttiers.
