This specimen was lot 32148 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Louis d'Or, 1647-B. Rouen Mint. Louis XIV. PCGS MS-62. This most appealing Mint State Louis d'Or delivers a charming and wholesome retained mint brilliance, with shimmering and sheening luster and crisply applied details. Signs of handling are limited, leaving this as a most impressive example of the type." This louis d'or à la mèche longue is among the more available louis of Louis XIV altho seldom seen in this quality.
