Sincona sale 99, lot 480

This specimen was lot 480 in Sincona Auction 99 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 40 CHF (about US$60 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Nicholas II. 1894-1917, 1 Penni 1915, Helsinki Mint. Mintage for Finland. NGC MS64 RD. Rotkupfer, Red copper."

This is a common date of a type struck 1895, 1898-1916 for Nicholas II. In 1917, the Finns declared independence from Russia and successfully defeated Russian attempts to reconquer the country.

Recorded mintage: 2,250,000.

Specification: 1.26 g, copper, 15 mm diameter.
