This specimen was lot 23779 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $7,050. The catalog description[1] noted, "Elizabeth II gold 150 Pounds 1979, Proof 69 Ultra Cameo NGC, Conservation Series with an incredible cameo strike, the reverse features the local Fur Seal." The Falkland Islands, off the coast of Argentina in the south Atlantic Ocean, last made the news in 1982, when Argentina attempted to conquer the islands but were ousted by Her Majesty's Armed Forces. The islands remain a British dependency.
