This specimen was lot 70528 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "FALKLAND ISLANDS. 10 Pounds, 1979. Llantrisant Mint. Elizabeth II. NGC MS-69. A wonderful example for the type with that is near perfection without an[y] distracting marks or tone." The Falkland Islands, off the coast of Argentina in the south Atlantic Ocean, last made the news in 1982, when Argentina attempted to conquer the islands but were ousted by Her Majesty's Armed Forces. The islands remain a British dependency.
