Sincona sale 79, lot 1090

This specimen was lot 1090 in Sincona sale 79 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 3,800 CHF (about US$4,554 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN | Königreich, Elizabeth I. 1558-1603. Gold 1/2 crown n. d. (1602), Tower Mint. Seventh issue. Mintmark 2. Very rare. NGC AU50. Weakly struck." This type was struck 1601-02 and is very rare altho this specimen realized only 60% of the catalog value.
