Sincona sale 75, lot 58

This specimen was lot 58 in Sincona sale 75 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 2,800 CHF (about US$3,399 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Grossbritannien | Königreich. Henry VIII. 1509-1547. 1/4 Angel n. d. (1544-1547), Tower Mint. Third coinage. Mintmark lis. Angel wears armour. NGC MS62. Überdurchschnittliche Erhaltung. (Extraordinary condition.)" The angel, introduced during the Wars of the Roses, was one-third of a pound or six shillings eight pence. The quarter angel shown here would be one shilling eight pence.
