The first specimen was lot 1067 in Sincona sale 79 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$1,918 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN | Königreich, Henry VIII. 1509-1547. Gold 1/2 crown n. d. (1544-1547), Tower Mint. Third coinage. Mintmark pellet in annulet. Crowned h-R by rose, crowned h-R by shield. Annulet on inner circle. Rare. NGC AU50." The second specimen was lot 1563 in Sincona sale 82 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 4,250 CHF (about US$5,688 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted, "Henry VIII. 1509-1547. Gold 1/2 Crown n. d. (1544-1547), Tower Mint. Third coinage. Mintmark "pellet in annulet". Crowned h-R by rose, crowned h-R by shield. NGC MS62." The gold half crown had a face value of 2½ shillings. The largest silver coin of the reign was the testoon, which was equal to a shilling. Spink comments, "Gold, which fell to 23 c[arat] in 1544, 22 c. in 1545, and 20 c. in 1546, was much less debased than silver...."

Specification: 25 grains or 1.61 g, 0.958 fine gold, the first specimen is 1.56 g; the second specimen 1.50 g.
