This specimen was lot 1058 in Sincona sale 79 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 3,200 CHF (about US$3,835 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN | Königreich, Henry VIII. 1509-1547. 1/2 Angel n. d. (1509-1526), Tower Mint. Second coinage. Mintmark lis. Rare. NGC AU Details. Scratches." Spink notes that the lis mintmark was also used at Canterbury and Durham. In 1526, the regime was forced to raise the value of the angel from its traditional six shillings eight pence to seven shillings six pence, which raised the half angel from three and four to three shillings and ninepence.
