Stack's Bowers September 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 75349

This specimen was lot 75349 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Penny, ND (1509-26). London Mint; mm: Crowned Portcullis. Henry VIII. PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, VF Details. From the Richard August Collection." Silver half pennies were never struck on a regular basis despite the need, being a nuisance to make. Halfpennies also struck at Canterbury (mintmark WA) and York.
