The first specimen was lot 7178 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Groat, ND (1508-09). York Mint; mm; rose. Henry VII. PCGS AU-58. Profile issue, struck under Archbishop Bainbridge. Obverse: Crowned bust right; Reverse: Coat-of-arms over long cross fourchee; two keys below. Most handsomely toned and very well struck, this elegant and lightly handled minor presents exceedingly better quality than is generally encountered for the type. From the Runze Collection." The second specimen was lot 71098 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[2] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Groat, ND (1508-09). York Mint; mm: martlet. Henry VII. PCGS AU-55. Struck under Archbishop Christopher Bainbridge. Obverse: Crowned bust right; Reverse: Coat-of-arms over long cross fourchee; two keys below. Barely handled, this hammered issue from late in the reign of the founder of the Tudor dynasty presents a deep cabinet tone and rather clear details throughout." The third specimen was lot 75344 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[3] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Groat (2 Pence), ND (1504-09). York Mint; mm: Martlet. Henry VII. PCGS EF-45. Obverse: Crowned bust right; Reverse: Coat-of-arms over long cross fourchee. From the Richard August Collection." Halfgroats or twopence were struck at London (S-2259 and -2260), Canterbury (S-2261) and York (S-2262, -2262A, -2263 and -2263A).
