This specimen was lot 44487 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Groat, ND (1464-70). Canterbury Mint. Edward IV. PCGS VF-35. From the Cookie Family Collection." The groat (cognate of "great", meaning large) was four pence and first appeared in the reign of Edward I. Edward IV's first, or heavy, groats were 60 grains (3.88 g) while the later, or light, groats (shown here) were 48 grains (3.11 g).
