The coin shown is a gold sultani from the first year of reign of Sultan Sulieman the Magnificent. Date is AH 926 (6 mostly off flan), which translates to about 1520 AD. The first specimen shown was lot 13135 on Sept 9, 2004 at the 2004 September (HWCA) Signature Sale #357, for $98. The catalog description reads "Suleyman I gold Sultani 926AH (1520), Misr mint (Cairo), Very boldly struck XF, clear mint and date, underlying luster. A choice example of this first "Ottoman style" gold type. From the Lake Pearl Middle Eastern Collection." The second specimen was lot 1636 in Jean Elsen sale 135 (Brussels, December 2017), where it sold for €140 (about US$194 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"OTTOMAN EMPIRE, Süleyman I (AD 1520-1566/AH 926-974) AV sultani, AH 926, Misr. Some flatness. Very Fine."
