This specimen was lot 43114 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "EGYPT. Gold 1/2 Pound, AH 1414/1993. Cairo Mint. PCGS MS-67. Commemorating "20th Anniversary of the October War Victory". A VERY RARE modern Egyptian commemorative that does not come to market with any frequency, this lovely Superb-Gem offers bold allure, and presents very well." Egypt did not win the 1973 Yom Kippur War against Israel but was not immediately crushed as it had been previously in 1948, 1956 and 1967. This led Menachem Begin to sign a peace treaty with Anwar Sadat in 1980, a treaty which, thru thick and thin, still holds today.

Recorded mintage: 500 struck, 270 sold.

Specification: 4 g, 0.875 fine gold, 18 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: Fr-257; KM-809.
