This specimen was lot 70666 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "EGYPT. 50 Pounds, AH 1414/1993. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Standing Ramses II. A nearly flawless Proof with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices." Friedberg renumbered the Egyptian gold coins in the 9th edition and, in the process, lumped all the two dozen issues of the Art Treasures series of 1993-94 under Fr-258, rendering the Friedberg number useless for attribution. We have resorted to the KM number instead.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 8.50 g, 0.900 fine gold, AGW 0.246 oz.
Catalog reference: Fr-258; KM-777.
