Egypt 1976 5 pounds Fr-130

from the Stack's Bowers Collector's June 2022 Choice sale, lot 70639

This specimen was lot 70639 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description^[1] noted, "EGYPT. 5 Pounds, AH 1396/1976. PCGS MS-65. Struck to commemorate King Faisal of Saudi Arabia. This wholly original looking example boasts a strong strike with an attractive pale golden coloration adding to its pleasing appearance." This design also appeared on a silver one pound (KM 457) and a gold one pound (Fr-131). This denomination was later converted to silver.

Recorded mintage: 2,500.
