This specimen was part of lot 34249 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), which sold for $587.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Lot of Seven 1 Real Coins 1833 1834 1835 1836 1838 1839 1840 Coins mostly grade Fine and VF. 1835 is scarce." This type was struck 1836-41 and normally encountered in Fine or lower. It is among the earliest coins struck in Ecuador.

Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.

Specification: 3.0-3.4 g, 0.667 fine silver.
