This specimen was lot 20813 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $805. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Real 1834GJ, AU55 NGC, handsome deep pewter gray toning with lustrous surfaces and mostly bold details on both sides. Rare grade for this era from Ecuador." This type was struck 1833-35 and normally encountered in Fine or lower. It is among the earliest coins struck in Ecuador.
