This specimen was lot 20815 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $2,530. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Republic gold 2 Escudos 1834GJ, nearly XF with original luster in the legends, well-struck details on a problem-free flan. Scarce date and an attractive example." This type was struck 1833-35 and normally encountered with problems. It is among the earliest coins struck in Ecuador.
