Durango 1914 5 centavos KM-630
This specimen was lot 73144 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $5,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Durango. 5 Centavos, 1914. NGC MS-62 Brown. "E." in legend with small date. Tied with two others for the finest certified by NGC, this example displays lovely details, and a soft chocolate brown. Compare this example with an inferior example graded AU-58 which brought a total price of $1,920 as lot #77376 in our February 2025 collector's choice online auction." This denomination was struck in copper (most common), brass, lead and even copper-nickel. It is likely the local revolutionaries struck coins from whatever metal they could get their hands on.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: copper.
