Ponterio sale 168, part of lot 40724

This specimen was part of lot 40724 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $5,288. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. Danzig. 1, 2, 5 & 10 Pfennig & 1 Gulden, 1923. KM-140/3d & 145; Parchimowicz-53/5, 57 & 61. 5 pieces in lot. Problem free, all pieces graded NGC PROOF-65." This type was struck 1923 only and is common. It was superseded in 1932 by an aluminum bronze type (KM 152).

Recorded mintage: 5,000,000 plus proofs.

Specification: copper-nickel.
