This specimen was lot 20475 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[2] noted, "Edward VII Piastre 1908, AU55 BN NGC, a choice example of this highly elusive type with glossy brown surfaces and a trace of original mint red in the legends. Rare in this pleasing quality, a fixture on many wantlists for Edward VII!" This one year type, equal to a British penny, is scarce, along with the matching quarter piastre and half piastre.
