This specimen was lot 23691 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,057.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Piastre 1927, MS63 BN NGC, a lovely glossy medium brown with no marks or obvious blemishes. Very scarce in this superior grade. From The Ted Reams Collection." Four dates are mentioned for this type, spanning 1922-31. This is the most common.
Recorded mintage: 127,000 plus a few proofs.
