This specimen was lot 747 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $420. The catalog description[1] noted, "CYPRUS: British Colony, AR 9 piastres, 1907, nice original tone, some luster, VF-XF." This scarce one year type was equal to a British shilling. It is the only issue of this denomination for Edward VII. The British seized Cyprus from the Turks in 1878 and held it until they granted it independence in the 1960's. The island is now partitioned between Greek and Turkish speaking Cypriots.
