Colombia 1839-B RS 1/2 real

from the Stack's Bowers 2018 ANA sale, lot 44109

This specimen was lot 44109 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $528. The catalog description^[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1/2 Real, 1839-RS. Bogota Mint. MS-65 (PCGS). Boldly struck and fully lustrous with attractive even gray toning. An example with great eye appeal. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." Nueva Granada was a Centralist Republic created upon the dissolution of Gran Colombia in 1830. The region held this name until 1858, when the Granadine Confederation was formed.
