This specimen was lot 40075 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1804/3-JJ Escudo. Santa Fe de Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) mint. Carlos IV (1788-1808). AU-58 (PCGS). Prooflike around the obverse periphery and across the reverse, a lustrous and pleasing example. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex. Mike Dunigan, May 1985." This type was struck at Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) and Popayán 1791-1808 and is a common gold coin of Charles IV.
