This specimen was lot 44057 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $3,360. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Cob 2 Escudos, 1642-NR A. Bogota Mint. Philip IV. PCGS EF-45. Displaying transposed Lions and Castles with partials of the final two digits of the date, this moderately worn handsome gold cob minor presents solid central devices and some intermittent areas of peripheral legends. From the S.P. Rutherford Collection. Ex: Sedwick 10 (10/2011) Lot # 26." This type was struck 1628-55 for Philip IV. Most survivors lack legible dates and therefore many dates are not listed altho the Santa Fé mint probably operated continuously during that period.
