Sincona sale 97, lot 3292

This specimen was lot 3292 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$290 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Graubünden, Chur, Bistum, Joseph Mohr von Zernez, 1627-1635. 10 Kreuzer 1633, Chur. Seltener Jahrgang. Gutes vorzüglich. (Switzerland, Graubunden, bishopric of Chur, Joseph Mohr von Zernez, 1627-35, ten kreuzer of 1633, Chur mint. Rare date, About Uncirculated.)"

This ten kreuzer was issued by the bishop 1630-36. The city of Chur also struck ten kreuzers in 1633 (KM 228) with the bust of St. Luke. In the early seventeenth century, one thaler was 72 kreuzer, later to rise to ninety kreuzer.
