China 2017 100 yuan
This specimen was lot 70545 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 100 Yuan, 2017. Panda Series. PCGS MS-69. "First Strike" issue. Extremely dazzling and radiant, this more recent panda issue resides at the precipice of perfection." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. The gold panda is one of the most popular. The SCWC has not updated its listings of pandas since 2012.
Recorded mintage: 600,000, all proofs.
Specification: 8 g, 0.999 fine gold, 27 mm diameter, 0.256 troy oz AGW.
