This specimen was lot 6215 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 100 Yuan, 1999. Panda Series. UNCIRCULATED. Large date, plain 1. Small file mark on edge, stain on reverse." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. The gold panda is one of the most popular.

Recorded mintage: 32,439.

Specification: 31.1 g, 0.999 fine gold, 1.000 troy oz AGW.
