Chilpancingo 1914 10 centavos
This specimen was lot 30132 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guerrero. Chilpancingo. Cast Silver 10 Centavos, 1914. NGC Genuine. This charmingly crude issues displays rich slate patina with brighter coloration atop the devices. The surfaces retain much of their naturally rough surface texture with signs of handling primarily contained to the high points. A handsome representative of the type with a good look." Chilpancingo, the capital of the state of Guerrero, was one of the headquarters of the Zapatistas. A cast silver twenty centavos (KM 664) also exists. The SCWC notes that this issue was heavily counterfeited.
