This specimen was lot 2386 in Goldberg sale 93 (Los Angeles, September 2016), where it sold for $1,175. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico: Guerrero. Peso, 1914-GRO NGC MS62. Emiliano Zapata. Revolutionary coinage. Only 1 example graded higher in the NGC census. NGC graded MS-62." This coin was issued by the Zapatistas under conditions where they were unable to part the gold from the silver, so they simply minted the alloy they had. As with any coin struck from hand made dies, numerous varieties exist. Most were promptly melted down as the gold content made them worth more than face value.
Recorded mintage: unknown but somewhat available.
Specification: silver and gold.
Catalog reference: KM-641.
