Mexico 1914-M 20 centavos

The first specimen was lot 22908 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $40. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 20 Centavos, 1914-M. NGC MS-64. Sharply struck with frosty luster." This specimen is an example of a type struck 1905-14 at Mexico City. The last branch mints, Zacatecas and Culiacan, were closed in 1905 and all official Mexican coinage since has borne the Mexico City mintmark ("M" or "Mo"). This type replaced the silver twenty centavos struck 1898-1905.

Recorded mintage: 1,500,000.

Specification: 5 g, 0.800 fine silver, 22 mm diameter, reeded edge.
